Macron-Prabowo Meeting: Strengthening Indonesia-France Relations

French President Emmanuel Macron made a significant visit to Indonesia, underscoring the strong partnership between the two nations. Macron emphasized that the bond between Indonesia and France goes beyond symbolism, representing a genuine and robust collaboration. His arrival at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta was warmly received by President Prabowo Subianto.

During the visit, Macron expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership between France and Indonesia. He underscored the importance of cooperation across various sectors including the economy, technology, security, and culture.

The diplomatic relations between Indonesia and France, spanning 75 years, have witnessed substantial advancements in the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s crucial role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region and noted progress in bilateral defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda.

Cultural exchange was also a focal point for Macron, with plans to sign a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex as a symbolic gesture of the deepening friendship between the two countries. Macron expressed appreciation to President Prabowo for the welcoming reception and conveyed optimism for sustained collaborative efforts during his two-day official trip to Indonesia.
